Organized total recall.
Look around your practice. How many sticky notes do you see on desks,
papers, computers, calendars and boards? How many of these fragile bits
of paper contain important, if not, critical patient or doctor
information? With MDoffice, messages are handled electronically to ensure
the message is received and acknowledged. Plus, all such messages become
a permanent part of the patient record to give a full and complete
accounting of patient/physician communication.
MDoffice enhances communications between physicians, their office staffs
and patients using "ticklers" which are like email between physicians and
staff. Ticklers act as an electronic version of a well organized desktop
(but without the paper clutter) for managing daily lists of things to do.
Always be aware of which items are done and which are falling behind
schedule. Uncompleted daily tasks are automatically forwarded to the next
day so that your "To Do" list stays current.
Use ticklers to remind yourself of missing patient information,
eligibility or benefit requirements, health maintenance, medical refills,
lab result follow-ups or anything else that will make your job easier.
Ticklers help ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner and
guard against missed deadlines. They help you stay in constant
communications with patients and staff to be sure nothing ever slips
through the cracks.
Todo lists.
If a patient calls the office and requests a prescription refill, the
nurse places a notation in a tickler (Patient requests a refill of…). The
nurse then selects the initials of the physician to whom the tickler is
to be directed (and a priority) and a new tickler is added to the tickler
list of the physician.
At any time, each staff member can review their own tickler list. The
staff may then choose to act-up on the information, delete the tickler,
create a new tickler for another user or transfer the tickler to another
user.
Ticklers can also be used when filing information into MDoffice. For
example, when lab results, radiology results or a nurse practitioner's
progress notes are automatically filed in MDoffice, a new tickler is
automatically created so that staff knows they must review the filed
information.
Clinical messaging.
As incoming messages, physicians receive electronic test results,
prescription refills, clinical memos, transcriptions, and communications
from staff and other physicians. They can rapidly tag these messages with
instructions and annotations, and then send them electronically to other
staff or physicians, or mark them as "done".
MDoffice's ticklers make managing daily tasks easier. Every staff member
has their own tickler list that can be used to track patient tasks or
schedule follow-up reminders. Scheduling tasks is as easy as clicking the
mouse. When the follow-up date/time arrives, MDoffice prompts the user of
their task. Once a user is done with a task, the user marks it as
completed.
Time-critical events such as laboratory results are delivered to
physicians in a timely fashion. Patient notes and staff messages are
stored directly in the patient chart for easy and organized access,
promoting accountability.
Enhanced office workflow.
You can make reminders, look for lab and test results, monitor due
dates and assign tasks to staff members. Tasks can be added either
manually or by MDoffice automatically. For example, today your patient
has Pneumonia, and in one week you might want an automatic tickler sent
to your nurse, reminding her to call the patient to have a chest x-ray.
Your ticklers appears on your nurses task list and reports back to you if
there are any problems with that request. You have an automatic audit
trail of responsibility.
Not only do ticklers prompt you, but also record your responses, alerts
you if the activity is incomplete, and files the information and its
successful completion in the patient record. Through the health
maintenance you've designed, tests ordered and medication refills are
placed on current tickler lists for. Ticklers are also a convenient place
to document phone encounters with a patient.
Patient sticky notes.
How many times have you lost a reminder that you'd scratched onto a
yellow sticky note or the back of an envelope or paper napkin, and then
failed to follow-up on or make a telephone call? MDoffice ticklers are the
perfect companion to MDoffice by helping to create, organize, prioritize
and store what tasks you need to do and when to do them and can keep
everyone up-to-date.
MDoffice ticklers save significant staff time spent finding, copying,
distributing, reviewing and refilling patient records. They also offer
the tools to make immediate replies to requests for phone consultations,
lab results, medication refills or other urgent inquiries. Because
tickler messages are stored electronically, they can also be delivered by
email or fax directly from the computer or printed at any time.
